GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a hormone that the body naturally produces in the intestines. Its job is to regulate blood sugar levels and send a signal to the brain that you are full. Modern drugs (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro) mimic this hormone, but they stay in the body much longer. They slow down the emptying of the stomach: You feel fuller for longer. They act on the satiety center in the brain: They reduce hunger and “food noise” (constant thoughts about food).
All of these drugs belong to the family of so-called incretin mimetics, but differ in their composition and specific purpose:Ozempic (Semaglutide): Originally developed and approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. At Aeternum Clinic, we use it especially for clients who primarily address glycemia and metabolic stability.Wegovy (Semaglutide): Contains the same active ingredient as Ozempic, but is officially approved and dosed directly for the treatment of overweight and obesity. For regular weight reduction and long-term metabolic restart, Wegovy is our first choice and the gold standard. It is an extremely powerful and proven tool that brings excellent results with very good tolerability in most clients.Mounjaro (Tirzepatid): This is the latest generation, which, in addition to the GLP-1 receptor, also stimulates the GIP receptor. Thanks to this dual mechanism, it is slightly more aggressive in the rate of weight loss, which we use in specific, more complicated cases. Why do we often recommend Wegovy instead of Mounjaro? Even though Mounjaro has been heavily discussed in the media recently, for the vast majority of clients, Wegovy is a completely full-fledged and in many ways more effective solution.Wegovy is not a “weaker” version. It is a precisely targeted therapy that offers the best ratio between achieved results and investment in health. Our goal is to set you a sustainable protocol that will lead you to your goal without unnecessary financial burden, unless there is a clear medical reason for it.
All of these medications are given once a week by subcutaneous injection (most often in the abdomen, thigh, or arm). The needles are very thin (similar to insulin) and the injection is painless for most people.
Since the drugs affect digestion, most of the side effects are gastrointestinal:Nausea (especially after eating or when the dose is increased).Feeling of fullness or bloating.Change in bowel habits (constipation or diarrhea).Fatigue.In patients with inflammation of the digestive tract (such as the duodenum or stomach), slowing digestion may temporarily worsen these conditions.
GLP-1 therapy is not a “magic pill”, but a tool for metabolic reboot. If discontinued without lifestyle changes, the weight can return. At Aeternum Clinic, we therefore combine GLP-1 with body composition monitoring and possibly TRT to prevent muscle loss, which is key to maintaining the new weight.
Therapy is not recommended for people with:A history of medullary thyroid carcinoma.Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).Severe digestive disorders (e.g. gastroparesis).Pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Yes, it is critically important. Rapid weight loss on GLP-1 can lead to muscle loss (sarcopenia). Strength training and adequate protein intake are necessary to keep your body looking good and your metabolism running fast.
Yes, thyroid treatment is not an obstacle. In fact, many of our clients at Aeternum Clinic combine these therapies. However, it is important to know two things:Improvement of metabolism: Once you start losing weight and cleansing your body effectively with GLP-1, your need for existing thyroid medications may change. That is why we regularly monitor hormone levels and adjust the dosage.Safety restrictions: The only absolute contraindication is the occurrence of a rare type of cancer (medullary thyroid carcinoma) in you or in your family. Common reduced function (hypothyroidism) or Hashimoto's thyroiditis are safe for therapy. Our goal is to harmonize both treatments so that your thyroid and metabolism run at their maximum.
Yes, and in modern longevity medicine (Medicine 3.0), this combination is considered one of the most effective protocols for total body and metabolic transformation in men. While each therapy addresses a different part of the puzzle, together they create a synergistic effect that addresses both the cause and consequences of metabolic disruption. Why does this combination make sense?Muscle mass preservation (Key argument): When losing weight quickly using GLP-1 (such as Mounjaro or Ozempic), the body risks burning a significant amount of muscle in addition to fat. Low testosterone accelerates this process. TRT acts as an “anabolic fuse” – ensuring that weight loss primarily comes from fat stores, while muscle tissue is preserved.Metabolic reboot: GLP-1 increases insulin sensitivity and reduces inflammation in the body (including the liver in the case of MASH). Testosterone, in turn, increases the number of mitochondria and improves the body’s ability to oxidize (burn) fat. Together, these drugs literally reprogram your metabolism from “storage” mode to “performance” mode.End the vicious cycle: Being overweight lowers testosterone (fat tissue converts testosterone to estrogen), and low testosterone makes it easier to store fat. Diet alone is often not enough to break through this barrier. The combination of GLP-1 and TRT cuts this cycle at both ends simultaneously.Vitality and motivation: GLP-1 can initially cause fatigue in some people. TRT, on the other hand, restores drive, improves mood, and provides the energy needed to lift weights in the gym, which is essential for lasting results. This combination requires precise medical supervision. We monitor not only your weight, but also your body composition (muscle/fat ratio) and blood markers. Our goal is not just a lower number on the scale, but a stronger, healthier, and more functional body.If you are overweight and have low testosterone levels, combining these therapies is the fastest and safest way to achieve optimal shape and get rid of metabolic risks such as fatty liver or type 2 diabetes.
